ASK Dance Company is proud to present Tabula Rasa 2024, Choreography: Reset, Reflect, Reimagine, a mixed-bill contemporary dance performance that premieres at the Blackbox, Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) on April 26th, 27th, and 28th, 2024. This performance promises to challenge conventions, inspire creativity, and redefine the possibilities of contemporary dance.

Tabula Rasa 2024, Choreography: Reset, Reflect, Reimagine is more than just a dance production; it aspires to be a transformative experience that challenges preconceived notions of dance. We invite the audiences to explore the boundless potential of creativity featuring new contemporary works by five choreographers – Chai Vivan, Raziman Sarbini, Zulkarnain Zuber, Nadhirah Rahmat, and esteemed Indian-Manipur guest artist Surjit Nongmeikapam.
The concept of “tabula rasa,” or the “blank slate,” posits that every individual possesses innate creativity waiting to be unleashed. With this premise as its foundation, our production seeks to challenge conventional ideas of dance, perhaps releasing and “unschooling the mind” from decades of dance conventions and training. The choreographers have been selected for their unique perspectives, and have been encouraged to push the boundaries of dance by fostering innovation, exploration, and expansion of choreographic concepts.
Together, our audience is invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery, asking fundamental questions: What is dance? What can it become? How can we engage? Our goal is to immerse the audience in an unforgettable experience that resonates deeply and leaves a lasting impression beyond the theatre.
Additionally, ASK Dance Company will facilitate “Chai Time With Surjit,” providing a platform for our international guest choreographer to share insights into his life as a Manipur artist, creative process and explorations.
