The Living Treasure Traditional and Contemporary Dances
The Dance Department at the Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya presents the highlya nticipated KESUMA & UMa Dance Showcase 2024/2025 Semester 1. This two-nights pectacular event will be held on 17 and 18 January 2025 (Friday and Saturday), at 8:30 p.m. at the Experimental Theatre, Universiti Malaya.
“This showcase is a celebration of dance, blending the richness of tradition with the boldness of innovation.” “It highlights masterpieces by seasoned traditional dance experts alongside fresh, creative works from the next generation of choreographers ,” said Artistic Director Tan Chai Chen.
The assistant artistic director of KESUMA, Mohammad Khairi Mokthar said, “the restage of signature creation from Kompleks Budaya Negara, a global ambassador of Malaysian dance is one of the major spotlights of the event, and it will provide a culturally enriching and incredible experience for the audience.” “The audience will be taken on a mesmerizing journey of the traditional performance accompanied with live music by singers and musicians from the Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya.
