Beyond Mozart

Travel through time in The klpac String Orchestra’s Beyond Mozart which explores the works of this renowned composer of the Classical era then bringing us forward in time through other composers like Jean Sibelius and Gustav Holst then finally to more recent composers of the 20th Century.

Under the baton of Resident Conductor and Music Director Andrea Sim, the concert showcases some of Mozart’s most well-known works produced in his short life including the Overture from his hit comic opera The Marriage of Figaro, the joyful Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) and Ave verum corpus, a motet written specially for his friend Anton Stoll.

The concert also features music by his peer Ludwig van Beethoven whose works bridge the Classical and Romantic period. The klpac String Orchestra is set to perform the first and third movement of Symphony No. 5 whose opening four-note motif is instantly recognisable.

Beyond Mozart also brings you through a sampling of works from England, Finland and Russia as they perform the works of Peter Warlock’s set of dances Capriol Suite, Jean Sibelius’ Impromptu for Strings Op. 5 and Gustav Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite.
