KELUNAN by Lan e Tuyang means “People” in the Kenyah and Kayan language. This ambitious joint showcase of Kayan and Kenyah people and culture explores the universal theme of love through a multidisciplinary performance deeply rooted in tradition. Experience age-old poetic singing-storytelling, to dances, to live music and sounds from traditional instruments. The cast consists of cross generational Kayan and Kenyah cultural practitioners including Mathew Ngau Jau (Kenyah), Malaysia’s Living National Heritage and Adrian Jo Milang (Kayan), youngest practitioner of the oral tradition Parap and Takna’. This show is produced by The Tuyang Initiative, an arts management social enterprise in the area of Dayak (Borneo indigenous) cultural heritage.
