Awegallery is pleased to announce the return of the annual Paramount Art A-Fair, an affordable mini art fair designed to encourage art collecting amongst new and longtime fine art enthusiasts.
The exhibition will take place over three weeks, from February 27th to March 17th, 2025, at Awegallery in Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya, and feature a curated selection of modern and contemporary artworks all priced under RM5,000, including paintings and sculptures, from seven Malaysian artists. The fair’s core objective remains to support local artists by offering their works a second chance at finding new homes.
About the Fair
This year, the fair’s curation expands with seven emerging artists from around Malaysia, including Penang, Sabah, Johor, and Melaka. The selected artworks feature a variety of mediums across painting, sculpture, and mixed media:
1. Hannah Bhatt
b. 1992, Sabah
Known for her Uncanny Valley series of ceramic oddities, Hannah creates weird and whimsical, sometimes functional, sculptures in hand painted ceramics.
Medium: Pottery and Sculpture
2. Jaemy C
b. 1985, Negeri Sembilan
Mixed Media artist Jaemy C channels online hate into sculptural “screens” combining his signature medium of Chinese calligraphy with internet witticisms.
Medium: Mixed Media
3. Donald Abraham
b. 1981, Sabah
Donald Abraham is known for his childlike and imaginative characters inspired by street culture set in sprawling urban jungles.
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
4. Francis Lee
b. 1980, Perak
Tranquility best describes the work of Francis Lee, as he draws on the inspiration of nature depicted across soothing painterly landscapes.
Medium: Watercolour and Oil
5. Lee Wee Xian
b. 1990, Melaka
Wee Xian effortlessly translates vignettes of urban activity on paper, showcasing people and buildings found in Malaysia, and his travels around the world.
Medium: Watercolour
6. Cheng Hao Yuan
b. 1990, Brunei
Hao’s series of experimental abstracts are meditations of chaos and catharsis that began during the era of restrictive Covid19 lockdowns.
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
7. Ryzalman
b. 1976, Johor
You can almost smell the scenes of seafood for sale at the wet market in Ryzalman’s nod to nostalgia, even as they are meticulously rendered in watercolour and acrylic.
Medium: Watercolour
