Soun(d)ance is a monthly series aimed at combining music and dance together in an improvisational and instantaneous context from dancers and musicians of various backgrounds. It attempts to encourage interdisciplinary practices and collaborations between performers.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:
Xiner Chan trained in both ballet and jazz since age of 5. In 2016, she joined Kwang Tung Dance Company under a training program and has been selected to join in as a dancer.
She then having the opportunities to perform locally in Yayasan Sim Darby Arts Festival, Dancebox Festival, Le French Arts Festival and many of the performances held by Kwang Tung Dance Company,
also internationally in Guangdong Modern Dance Festival (Guangzhou, China).

Joelle Lee trained in ballet since the age of 7. She joined Kwang Tung Dance Company (KTDC)’s Training Programme in 2016. Her passion for dance led her to complete Advanced Diploma of Dance from the Australian Dance Performance Institute (ADPI) in 2017 & 2018. She performed 2 short pieces with KTDC in Let’s Dance – The 4th Selangor KL Schools Dance Exchange. Recently, she joined a
dance showcase along with three other artists in the Artist-in-residence Programme by Meraki Cia.

Kok Siew-Wai is an artist-organizer, vocal improviser and video artist. She has shown her works and performed in Asia, Europe, Canada and USA, participating in music festivals such as CTM Festival (Germany), allEars Improvised Music Festival (Norway), Asian Meeting Festival (Japan), Singapore Night Festival, Choppa Experimental and Improvised Music Festival (Singapore), Nusasonic (Indonesia), amongst others.

Yong Yandsen is an improvised saxophonist. He has played at the Asian Meeting Festival (Japan), Mosaic Festival Singapore, Choppa Eclectic Improvised Music Festival (Singapore), allEars Festival (Norway), Music Matters Festival (Sri Lanka) amongst others. Yandsen, together with Darren Moore and Brian O’Reily, form the improvised trio called Game of Patience. They have toured to Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. In 2018, he joined another trio with Christian Meaas Svendsen and Paal Nilssen-Love. Yandsen has also done several solo tours to Japan and Taiwan. He is the co-founder of a Malaysian record label, LaoBan Records, focusing on releasing contemporary improvised music.
