Simetri: Art Installation | Workshops | Crafts

We love crafts too much. So we had to do a weekend of everything crafts—from art installation and workshops to pop-ups!
Simetri is a two-day event put together in conjunction with our Simetri Kelari art installation to further promote the message of our installation work. Featuring workshops by Mah Meri Master Weaver Maznah Unyan and Temuan jelai jewellery artist Leny Maknoh, as well as pop-ups by Gerimis, Gerai OA, Leny Maknoh and Asli Mak Intan.

Gallery Gerimis is a space dedicated to indigenous arts and culture, currently featuring works from Orang Asli artists and artisans, as well as stories from our fieldwork. This is where we hope (re)connections happen—with our indigenous people, our age-old forests, and the richness of their arts, culture, and tradition that are intimately connected to the land.

Gerimis Art Project is a collaborative artistic and archiving initiative that co-creates cultural content with Orang Asli artisans and contemporary artists. We primarily work with Orang Asli communities who are already leading their own efforts to recognise, restore, and preserve their arts, culture, and traditions. By working together, we aim to further enable and facilitate the autonomy of Orang Asli discourses via a series of artworks, photography works, zines, installations, workshops, and exhibitions.

GMBB is a creative community mall in Bukit Bintang that believes in meaning making, passionately aspiring to do #MoreTogether with creatives, artists, artisans and the public.
