PICA Artist Talk: Circular Economies

PICA opens one of its final exhibits for 2026 with a series of artist-in-conversations led by Circular Economies curator, Miranda Johnson. Arising from socially-embedded artist residencies across regional Western Australia between 2024 and 2026, the exhibition uses photography, video, textiles and installation, to explore the social, cultural and ecological relationships that sustain regional communities. Audiences will hear from House of Natural Fiber, Tarsh Bates and Susan Hauri-Downing, Loren Kronemyer, Ilona McGuire and Zali Morgan and Linda Tegg as they discuss their newly commissioned works and the partnerships and community connections behind them. The conversations consider the role of socially-engaged and place-responsive art in regional Western Australia, a legacy long championed by SPACED. Alongside the talks, Bates and Hauri-Downing will present a live scent distillation in the gallery. Registration is free.
