The exhibition, through a specially curated selection of abstract expressionism, self-portrait and portrait paintings from the PETRONAS Art Collection, reflects on the progression of Malaysian artists in acquiring and eventually excelling at the skills and techniques that are essential in their aesthetic pursuits. It also revisits the context of each abstract expressionism artwork with respect to changes through time, that shaped the art movement and attempts to draw parallels to the nation’s aspirations and progress throughout the years.
