This show started with the question : Do people, especially kids, still know of our local folklores?
We all grew up listening to the songs and stories of Disney, whistling them while we work, dreaming to be part of that world and wishing upon stars for the happily-ever-after to happen in our lives.
While that is all good, genuflect show some respect, do we know the way to find our way home?
Do we remember our own stories? Our smart and mischievous kancil, our strong and beautiful princesses and also our comical and entertaining stories full of teladan and nasihat orang tua-tua.
Are we still telling and sharing our stories that have been passed down through generations?
Dondang Dongeng is our quest in sharing these stories, passing down these narratives, but in our own way. In songs and tunes, in celebration of our traditions. Of who we are, our past, our present and our future.
Helmed by a team of esteemed creatives that are highly sought-after in the music scene, Dondang Dongeng is craftily weaved into a dreamscape, filled with stories less remembered but hopefully not long forgotten. Stories as old as time, presented in the form of songs with a modern twist.
Let the songs awaken these folklores again. And let’s journey into this dreamscape together! If we continue to tell these stories, we might realised that we all share common narratives and that will lead us to the way home.
