Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival (DiverseCity) 2017 –
A TALE THAT MUST BE TOLD: MACBETH
Malaysia / United Kingdom
Targeted at audience as young as 8 years old, this interactive storytelling uses action and live music to recount the rise and fall of Macbeth the Scottish Thane, one of the greatest characters in Shakespeare’s canon. The performance is developed by KL Shakespeare Players (KLSP) from Malaysia, with the help of their consultant Johnny Gillett, or better known as The Journeyman from the United Kingdom.
Audience will have the chance to participate in some exciting moments in the play, such as the opening battle, and the seduction of the three witches.
The story is told in modern English, with some key phrases in the original Shakespeare’s text. This allows the young audience to follow the main plot and themes of the play, and be familiar with famous lines such as “Fair is foul , and foul is fair…” or “Double, double, toil and trouble…”
