Scott Woo (Musical Director)
Hailing from Sarawak, Scott has been an avid choral singer since young. He has taken on a variety of roles in the classical music landscape, including lay clerk, choirmaster, musical director, talent agent, tenor soloist and concert producer, both locally and abroad. Upon returning from Germany in 2017, Scott strives to promote different portfolios of classical vocal and choral repertoire to the Malaysian audiences, such as “The Singing Balcony” initiative. He is the director and vocal coach of VerSeS – the KL Madrigal Singers.
YS Tang (Classical Guitar)
A scholarship recipient from Del Mar College, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Texas Tech University School of Music, where he also received his teaching assistantship, Mr. Tang has a Master’s degree in Music performance. Formerly an adjunct lecturer at Malaysian Institute of Art music department, Mr. Tang is currently an adjunct lecturer of UiTM and he also accepts music major students in Malaysian Institute of Art as well as private students. Mr. Tang emphasizes the importance of the traditional etudes or studies in his teaching principle, in which working on an etude for a specific technique is compulsory along with one or two repertoire (also early music repertoire when a student has the capacity), progressively. In addition to regular lessons, Mr. Tang conducts public seminars and recitals in various classical guitar related topics.
Foo Chie Haur (Flute)
Chie Haur is currently principal flute of the National Symphony Orchestra Malaysia. As a chamber musician as well as soloist, he has appeared in several musical events such as Steinway Historical Roadshow in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Johor Bahru Arts Festival and Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation Music Festival. Besides, he has also performed in international festivals in Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, as well as a chamber recital in Melbourne, Australia. His professional orchestral experiences also include Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Macao Orchestra. He was also an orchestral member of Canton International Summer Music Academy Guangzhou, China and Asian Youth Orchestra.
YiLing Chaing (Mezzo Soprano)
YiLing completed her honors degree in Vocal and Operatic studies in Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK. She won several competitions and one of those awarded her a full scholarship to further her postgraduate degree in Kodály Institute of Liszt Academy, Hungary, She graduated with first class with the title of Kodály expert. She is currently a graduate research assistant in a local university for her doctorate degree. YiLing’s presence is celebrated in many operas, especially in several lead roles like Hansel and Gretel, La Voix Humaine and Carmen. Her performances and masterclasses given set her feets in England, Hungary, Australia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia. Her contribution to culture and music has been awarded with PJM from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang. She carried her duty as adjunct lecturer of Fairview University College, Sunway University, ASWARA, UCSI University, and currently a full-time lecturer at UiTM.
