To Carry a World: The Weirding Praxis of Casebearers and a Lexicographer

To Carry a World: The Weirding Praxis of Casebearers and a Lexicographer

A creature as inconspicuous as a speck of dust carries a world as boundless as the ocean. In this session, Tan Zi Hao examines how collectors of various sorts, from gatherers to hoarders and lexicographers, engage in nonlinear world-making through unexpected material encounters. Concentrating on household casebearers and the late lexicographer Yang Quee Yee, the artist presents a speculative history that imagines worlding as a weirding praxis, particularly on how we carry the other in ourselves in weird ecological loops.
