Even the toughest ships travelling through dead water conditions are slowed to a standstill. What happens when being alive feels quite the opposite? When our body is alive like the ship but our minds have come to a stall like dead water.
This theatre film explores the sense of disconnect between the mind, body, and the external world – almost like having a sense of being elsewhere. Elsewhere in a place where reality is not grounded and time isn’t a straight, predictable line, but is more like a knotted ribbon.
Filmed outdoors at the lawn of The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), Dead Water is a multidisciplinary collaborative piece that includes Chloe Tan (dance artist), Ho Lee Ching (theatre artist), Tung Jit Yang (theatre artist), Francoe (musicians), Ravin Puspalingam (videographer), and Yusman Mokhtar (scenographer/ art director).
Dead Water is initiated by The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat, @theklpac and Hermana Collective, supported by @cendanamalaysia, @mycreativeventures, @programpenjanamalaysia
