I’m Here Where You Are is a title that plays with the idea of visibility and presence: it is an affirmation of presence, yet when delved deeper can seem question-like. When read as a question, people on different planes in the same space can communicate with each other, while not possibly be able to see each other. Here the idea of separate planes can be conceptualized as the performer- artist plane, the plane that is the collective of the audience-participant, and the individual audience-participant plane. The performance achieves this by inviting the audience-participant in group fashion, to react to and create with the pre-existing events designed by the performer-artist, emphasizing on the experience of living and being aware of one’s own presence within the larger context of the
collective, and the differences in power and therefore visibility between the individual and the collective and their ability to effect change.
Derived from the interactive music performance Mobile Phone Orchestra, ‘I am here where you are’ involves the audience-participants going on a quest-like journey within the designated areas while utilizing their mobile phones to recreate or react to the event (within the performance) or situation. They will have to participate in several events, traveling to each area then performing a task before moving on to the next spot. In these events, they will encounter differing requests and instructions that are related to the idea of presence and being in their interactions with each other and the surrounding environment.
