Synopsis : Society and Authorities draw lines around us every day. The consequences of stepping out of line often result in putting us behind more lines.

It’s no wonder most of us are afraid of our artistic impulse. So what can we do about it? We draw more lines, of course.

For Out Of Line, 15 Malaysian artists go back to basics with lines that are anything but basic. They show us how little or how much is needed to step beyond the line that prevents us from expressing ourselves.

Have imagination, will travel.

Witness the surprising, intricate, beautiful and irreverent works: doodles that flow with surreal intensity, lines that challenge their own seemingly simple forms, and subject matters that threaten to unravel the lines that define them. In this exhibition, even the lines are out of line.

The artworks are line drawings, using various media including ballpoint pen, chalk, pencil, felt tip markers, spray paint, acrylic, ink and rice.

Participating artists are Avroco, Chang Yoong Chia, Cheeway, Daniel Chong, Jerome Kugan, K Soon, Melissa Lin, Mun Kao, Pang Khee Teik, Shahril Nizam, Saharil Hasrin Sanin, Tey Beng Tze, They, Why and Wong Eng Leong.
