| Synopsis : | In his latest work, Play Time, director Loh Kok Man intends to explore the issues of language and theatre language through games. The play is inspired by the story "Les Chaises" (The Chair), written by the master of Absurd Theatre, Eugene Ionesco, which he called a "tragic farce".
Loh, winner of the BOH Cameronian Arts Award 2003 for Best Director, hopes to reveal questions such as identity, time, ambiguities between fact and illusion and the absurdity of our society through this play. The play centers around a 90-year couple, who represent the human race with their nonsensical conversations about unfulfilled hopes and dreams, which represent the intricacy and complications of daily life. Play Time unites some very talented artists like Gan Hui Yee, Ling Tang and Sui Shiang Chi. The stage and set design was done by Chan Kok Hooi, with the image design by Charlie Jong and music design by Bernard Goh, the artistic director of Hands Percussion. Expect a feast of visuals and sounds, with thought-provoking themes. |
