Synopsis : Joanne Kam, the Boom Boom Room’s queen of risqué humour, returns to the stage, after much persuasion from fans, with a louder, funnier, more mature (and still PG-13 rated) adaptation of the original Boom Boom Room show!

This comedy cabaret musical combines song and dance, stand-up comedy and skits with a generous amount of local wit and humour, a spoonful of intellect, a dash of Bollywood, a splice of rock n roll and disco, loads of fun and just enough risqué to spice up the show.

The always irreverent and hilarious Joanne Kam will be joined by Gavin Yap, Douglas Lim, Susan Lankester, Fang Chyi, Ho Soon Yoon, Ash Nair, Ina Fabregas and Malik Taufiq.

Here's a taste of things to come:

Act One
1. Feelin’ Good / Steppin’ To The Bad Side
2. Joanne Kam (stand-up)
3. Whatever You Like
4. Sweet Dreams / Tainted Love
5. CSI Petaling Street (skit)
6. In Your Mind
7. Punjabi MC
8. Choli Ke Peche

Curious that there are four votes already for a show that hasn't opened. I can only presume the votes were based on a dress-rehearsal. If that's the case, it's unfair to make judgments cause dress-rehearsals are when all elements come together and when cast and crew and director find out what needs tweaking or fine-tuning. Of course, the production can still be a rotting beached whale even with another month of rehearsals, but still it's not fair to comment before opening night.

I have seen a couple of manic desperate days produce near-miracles for anaemic shows. In the 80s I had a heated discussion with a colleague, a newspaper editor, about a review of a play I was involved in. I questioned the dishonesty of the review written as if the writer had attended opening night when she had only seen a dress-rehearsal. The editor grudgingly acknowledged the slippery evasiveness of the review, but defended the writer by saying we had invited her and other members of the press to the dress-rehearsal. My reply was that we had invited them because they wanted more lead time to write their reviews, and that any performer (and respected critic) in the world will tell you there is a vast difference in playing to a cold preview audience of 20 and playing to a full house of 300 the next night.

My stance hasn't changed. You do not take pot-shots before the curtain goes up.

Wanted to watch...but having second thought because the tickets are priced too high. *sigh*

Watched it on Sunday. What a let down. The best bit was at the beginning when Joanne was shooting from the hip. Otherwise the rest are just wanky and amateurish. Especially the skits... completely incomprehensible, pointless and worst of all jarringly irritating with all the bad accents. I wish it was more accurately named 'Vaudeville Acts and Fillers featuring bits of Joanne Kam' instead of the blatantly false title that suggests this show is to be a riotious and bawdy night out with Kam in the face. It surely wasn't. Ticksy hobbits lied and cheated us!

To Probably will lay off theatre for another year. :

If you want something more explicit, visit a strip joint. Kam... In Your Face, is merely to entertain; and that it definitely did! Get your face out of your ass.
