| Synopsis : | Mak Yong meets Shakespeare in MaMa Yong, a production based loosely on William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”. Incorporationg the the traditional Kelantanese artform, Mak Yong, the play will be performed in Malay, Mandarin, English and classic-Kelantanese, with English surtitles, and promises to be full of colour, humour, song and dance! Directed by Muhammad Najib Soiman (bijaN), one of Singapore’s promising young theatre directors and featuring performances by Aidli ‘Alin’ Mosbit, Helmi Fita, Mohd Zulfadli Rashid (Big), Serena Pang and many others. Presented by panggung ARTS, an ensemble of Singapore theatre artists who create and perform original, issue-based theatre performances, founded in 2008 by director/ playwright/ performer Aidli ‘Alin’ Mosbit, with other prolific and multi-talented practitioners like Muhammad Najib Soiman (bijaN), Mohammed Zulfadli Rashid (Big) and Helmi Fita. Helming the company’s administrative and production management team are the very experienced producers like Elnie S Mashari, Molizah Mohd Mohter and Juraidah Rahman. Other collaborators include designer Junainah Yusoff and an emerging artist, Serena Pang. This is panggung ARTS's inaugural production. |
