Serious Comedy Studio presents its 10th production a COURTROOM COMEDY SKIT called INDIAN LAWYERS!
Synopsis
Indians are not only well known for their speaking skills, they are much ADMIRED and FEARED for their spinning skills as well.
The ACCUSED, a Chinese who is accused on a charge of murder, refuses to engage Chinese or Malay lawyers to defend him. He only wants Indian lawyers. Why? According to him, Indians ‘SPEAK INDIAN,’ the art of twisting and turning words to make black look white and vice versa.
The KEY WITNESS, a Malay, spends sleepless nights after knowing that the defense lawyer is an Indian. The witness’s father, consoles his son saying that their lawyer, a Malay, has had lecturers who were Indians and they would have taught their Malay lawyer the art of ‘SPEAKING INDIAN’
The DEFENSE LAWYER, an Indian, is indeed a Grandmaster in the Art of Twisting, the so called, ‘SPEAK INDIAN.’ We are shown his prowess as a law student and as a chambering pupil. The trial date is set. All three come face to face. The courtroom drama begins. It picks up momentum. It becomes an Indian Drama.
The lawyer starts ‘Speaking Indian.’
The key witness is subdued. The accused is acquitted! The accused is elated and at the same time dumbfounded. He still cannot make up his mind if this Indian lawyer was a saint or a serpent for what the Indian lawyer did was all within the law.
