 Alexis Bistro International Jazz Series
presents
Rani Singam (S’pore)
Fri 6 & Sat 7 April 2012

Rani Singam is one of the most sought-after contemporary jazz vocalists today. She is named in "The Jazz Singers- the ultimate guide" a 2008 publication which serves as an encyclopedia of the important singers in jazz today.

Rani has recently self-produced her second album "Contentment" in 2011. The album has been lauded by critics as contemporary and hip. The original compositions are a showcase of Rani's songwriting skills. " … a vibrant authentic recording of vocal jazz - a little bit of gold" - All About Jazz, 24 Jan 2012

Making a debut appearance at Alexis, Rani will be performing songs from Contentment as well as jazz standards. Rani sings in a style which is truly reminiscent of the great jazz singers she admires.  She also has a truly endearing way of connecting with the audience and when you watch her perform, you feel as though she was singing directly to you. Each performance is a dazzling and uplifting experience. She has “a beautiful vocal signature and great command of her delivery”. Her “playful yet caressing vocals likened by many to legendary jazz vocalists including Billie Holliday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn” continue to woo the hearts of critics and fans alike. "With her multiple talents, (Rani) Singam is definitely one to watch".

Rani will be performing with renowned pianist Tan Weixiang from Singapore as well as Malaysian artists.
