- Brian Tan
The classical musician and conductor Brian Tan received his Bachelor of Arts from the Britain's Birmingham Conservatoire in violin and piano; returning home in the 1990s, he has since become an active practitioner with a growing list of credentials. Between 2000 and 2004, Brian was appointed conductor for the Penang State Symphonic Band, and assistant conductor for the Penang State Symphony Orchestra & Chorus; he is currently the music director and resident conductor for KLPac's Sinfonietta Orchestra, a community ensemble dedicated to providing opportunities for aspiring musicians, and promoting orchestral music. Between conducting and performing piano and violin recitals, Brian is also active in music education, regularly organising music seminars, workshops, and orchestra music camps. He has lectured in Universiti Putra Malaysia, and has been on the panel of examiners for the London College of Music & Media's examination board since 2003. For his avid participation in Malaysian orchestral and classical music, Brian Tan is this year's recipient of the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur Fan of the Arts for Most Promising Artist Award.
ARTSEEFARTSEE CROSS-CULTURAL CHAMPION OF THE ARTS AWARD
Prize of an artwork valued at RM5,000 sponsored by Artsee.net
- Joseph Gonzales
The dancer and choreographer Joseph Gonzales is perhaps the most active proponent of dance education in Malaysia. As head of Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan's dance department, it is largely due to Joseph's efforts that ASWARA is effectively Malaysia's premiere school for dance instruction, consistently turning out performers and performances that go on to receive accolades, including BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. Joseph, as a practitioner and educator, continues to build bridges between Malaysian and foreign institutions: in 2006 he facilitated the Choreographer Arts Management programme for the University of California, Los Angeles, which also involved universities from Indonesia and Cambodia; last year, he led a Malaysian dance troupe in the 8th Asia Arts Festival in Beijing. Joseph is also known for his contributions to the scholarship of dance practice in Malaysia; in 2004 he published the seminal "Choreography: A Malaysian Perspective", a volume detailing the work of Malaysian choreographers, and an invaluable source of documentation and analysis for future dance research. For his championing of dance education and practice, with its focus on exchange both within and without Malaysia, Joseph Gonzales is this year's recipient of the Artseefartsee Cross-Cultural Champion of the Arts Award.

| Congratulations to KAKISENI and BOH CAMERONIAN for another great awards night. Joseph Gonzales - you ROCCCCCCK!!! Truly appreciate the side-splitting MC scripts (that's really all you need for entertainment), the opening number by Sean and Liza (HOT!), and of course the after-awards party is the best thang you could have come up with. Thanks Heinneken! I also appreciate the citations you have reproduced here on the special awards winners and wish perhaps you could also upload all the video files so that everyone can celebrate the pecial winners. I hope you can do it for all the previous years, too. Once again - thanks for ALL YOUR HARD WORK to make this happen year in and year out!

| Congratulations to all nominees and winners. To the judges, kakiseni and artsee.net - Thank you for the award. I am humbled and still reeling in shock and disbelief. I want to pay tribute to the pioneers of arts in Malaysia who have constantly inspired me from Khatijah Awang, Hamzah Awang Amat,K.Sivadas, Gopal Shetty, Steven Koh and other masters to Dato' Faridah Merican, Dato' Krishen Jit and Marion D'Cruz, Temple of Fine Arts, Zhou Gui Xin, Umesh Shetty, Hajijah Yaacob to young students who dare to dream. My deepest thanks is for my teachers Elsie Mak, Lee Lee Lan, Said Manap, Dr. Anis and others too many to mention. I contribution is a tiny aspect of the arts in Malaysia and the knowledge that cross cultural work is the pathway to greater understanding and celebration of our diversity! My pray is that through the arts and other means, we can build bridges of healing and profound acceptance between communities and nations, and glory in the uniqueness of each individual. Thank You.

| Dear Kakiseni Team, Congratulations on organising the awards event and seeing it through to its succesful conclusion. I thought this year's ceremony was far better than last year's in every way. I would also like to add one suggestion: When it comes to choosing your presenters for the respective categories, is it so difficult to ensure that the presenters are not in any way related to the nominees to whom they are presenting awards? I believe this would avoid much conflict of interest. It was so very obvious that some of the presenters had a strong interest and involvement in the awards. It was most annoying to see one particular presenter jumping up and down and hoping that his show would win. After all, aren't the presenters supposed to be impartial to some extent? Show some joy for the winners, yes. Laugh and cry with the award winners, yes. But NOT pre-empt the announcement or show complete preference as to whom they are obviously supporting... I do not think this problem would have been to difficult to solve. It is simply a matter of paying attention to the smallest details. I believe the awards ceremony improves with every year it is held. And this can be seen with each passing year. Congratulations once more to Kakiseni for their efforts. I look forward to next year's awards ceremony.
